FACTS

CM Games has announced the Early Access launch date for Into The Radius 2. Players with Quest 3 and 3S will be able to travel into the zone on May 21. Older headsets are not supported.

Currently, the studio does not plan to support crossplay between PC VR and Meta Quest.

At launch, the Quest 3 version will be missing two areas from the PC VR version: the outskirts of Pechorsk and the Distortion Zones. But all core features of the recently released 0.13 update (more on that below) will be included.

The studio plans to bring the Quest 3 version closer to feature parity with PC VR in future updates.

CONTEXT

What is Into The Radius 2?

Into the Radius is inspired by the sci-fi novel Picnic by the Roadside (1971), in which daring treasure hunters, known as stalkers, venture into a dangerous zone full of physical anomalies to recover valuable artifacts. The same book also inspired GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

The original Into The Radius was released for PC VR, Meta Quest and Playstation VR 2 and quickly became a VR hit with a loyal fan base. The VR game focuses on survival in the so-called Pechorsk Zone and places great emphasis on realism and a large selection of customizable firearms. Players must collect loot in the zone, manage scarce resources and maintain their equipment to survive and advance deeper and deeper into the zone.

The sequel Into The Radius 2 was released in Early Access on Steam in July 2024. Since then, three major updates have been released: Update 0.11, Update 0.12 and Update 0.13.

The latter was released on April 24th and brought a new area (Pechorsk Outskirts), a new progression system with a revised mission structure, enemy distribution, loot system, anomalies and weapon unlocks, new weapons and attachments, a completely revamped equipment customization system, improved player body and movement, voice chat, and enemy and anomaly updates.

Into the Radius 2 builds on the strengths of the original. Key enhancements include co-op for up to three players, larger and more graphically detailed areas with better lighting and weather effects, more intelligent enemy AI, a more complex weapon customization system, and more realistic survival mechanics.
