Lean into traffic on a VR hoverboard: this free Steam demo is racing toward a November launch
A hoverboard ride through robot-filled traffic sounds like the sort of thing VR was made for. Hyperlane Highway is giving PC players a chance to try exactly that in a free Steam demo, ahead of a planned November 10 Early Access release.
The single-player shooter from Ryality Studio puts you on a board with blasters in both hands. Lean left or right to change lanes, pitch forward or back to change height, and reach forward or pull back to adjust your speed.
Full-body movement isn’t the only option. The developer also lists head tilt, controller gestures and thumbstick controls, with settings that let players mix inputs and adjust comfort.

Blasters, bosses and sponsor deals
The Steam page describes a roguelite structure: each run starts with a sponsor deal, and the cards you pick up can change how your weapons and abilities work. Pit stops give you opportunities to buy, sell or recycle cards as the traffic gets more dangerous.
The developer says the demo lets players try more than 50 cards, face more than 20 enemies and variants, and fight two bosses across four stages. Progression includes challenges and cosmetic unlocks.
There’s also a satirical setup behind the action. Mega-corporations sponsor riders to clear the hyperlanes, broadcasting their runs as entertainment. The better you perform, the more your hype can increase your speed and rewards.

Try it before the Early Access release
Hyperlane Highway is listed as VR-only on Steam, with a free demo available now. The developer identifies Meta Quest headsets and PC VR hardware among its target devices; Quest owners should check their PC streaming setup and the store’s compatibility information before jumping in.
Early Access means the release is a work in progress. Ryality Studio says it expects that phase to last around eight to twelve months and plans more riders, bosses and environments, though the timing and final contents can change.
