Ghosts of Tabor is a tactical first-person shooter inspired by games like Escape from Tarkov, DayZ, and Arma, but designed from the ground up for virtual reality.

The game quickly became a hit on Meta Quest. It is currently the 29th most successful Quest game and has 24,000 ratings (as of May 8, 2025).

With the launch of PSVR 2, Combat Waffle announced that Ghosts of Tabor has now been played by over one million players and has generated $30 million in revenue since its Early Access launch in March 2023.

In addition to Meta Quest, Ghosts of Tabor is also available for PC VR headsets and Pico headsets. And since May 7, you can also play the extraction shooter with Playstation VR 2 on PS5.

Solid first impression

In Ghosts of Tabor, you can explore sprawling environments or interiors alone or in squads of up to three players, hunting for loot and fighting human and AI-controlled enemies.

Captured equipment, weapons, ammunition, medicine, food, and water can be taken back to your personal bunker - provided you make it to the extraction point alive. The game also features a crafting system, trading, and missions that unlock special items. For a deeper look into gameplay, check out the impressions from our shooter expert, Kevin.

I went hands-on with Ghosts of Tabor on the Playstation VR 2 and the port makes a solid first impression. The game runs smoothly and the resolution is high enough to provide a sharp image, although distant objects still show some aliasing.

Ghosts of Tabor remains a Quest game

Combat Waffle confirmed to MIXED that the game runs at 90 frames per second on PSVR2 and takes advantage of the headset’s eye-tracking capabilities. The adaptive triggers are not yet in use, but support for select weapons will be added via an update soon.

Despite the solid port, don't expect visual miracles on PlayStation VR2. Ghosts of Tabor was originally designed for standalone headsets like Meta Quest, and it shows. The game also still has its fair share of typical VR quirks and jank that might deter more demanding players. Nevertheless, these issues haven’t hindered its success.

You can purchase Ghosts of Tabor from the Playstation Store, Horizon Store, Pico Store and Steam.
