DJ Aphex Twin has released an augmented reality app called YXBoZXh0d2lu that interactively visualizes his new EP "Blackbox Life Recorder 21f / in a room7 F760" with 3D objects. Users scan the physical packaging to unlock various AR experiences based on individual tracks. The app is available for free for iOS and Android and was developed in collaboration with Studio KALKUL, Weirdcore and Warp Records.
The newly founded Creature Studios and SideQuest want to help independent VR developers with a fund totaling $1 million. The studio is made up of experienced VR developers led by Doug North Cook and aims to support development teams by providing financial, technical and creative assistance. Developers are not required to publish their software on SideQuest. Pitches for funding can be sent to Creature Studios now (see link in source).
Following its release for Quest 2 and PC VR last year, the fantasy role-playing game Ruinsmagus is now coming to PSVR 2. The Complete Edition includes the main game, the DLC “The Warrior and the Tailor” and the Remixed Update. Hardware upgrades like haptic headset feedback, adaptive trigger support, 3D audio, and updated vibration patterns have also been added. Ruinsmagus: Complete Edition will be released on September 18 for the PSVR 2.
Pimax has released a list and video of all the launch titles for the standalone mode of its VR headset, Pimax Crystal. Users can choose from the following VR games: Hitstream, X-Fitness, Pierhead Arcade 2, David Slade Mysteries: Case Files, Labyrinth Trap VR, Voxel Fly Z Show, Frog & Froggie, First Person Tennis, Whirligig VR Media Player, OpenBrush. More games are expected to follow soon.
German YouTuber, Sebastian Ang (MRTV), launches an online platform where people can pay to try out the latest XR devices in private homes. This includes VR headsets, AR headsets, haptic accessories and VR treadmills from manufacturers such as Pimax, Varjo, BHaptics, Xreal and DPVR. "trymytech" is structured similarly to the community marketplace Airbnb and is financed by platform fees per booking. Details about the conditions can be found via the link in the source citation.
