VR headset maker Pimax opens innovation lab
VR headset maker Pimax has opened its own innovation center called 314 Labs for VR research and development. The locations are in Elkton, Maryland (USA) and Qingdao, China. Pimax founder Robin Weng sees this as an opportunity to advance VR technologies faster. 314 Labs has its own budget and more autonomy than the main company. The Elkton location focuses on the in-house developed SLAM algorithm for headset, controller and hand tracking. The Qingdao location works on key technologies such as 60G Airlink and interchangeable optical systems. The Pimax headquarters in San Jose and Shanghai remain responsible for operational tasks such as logistics and customer service. Most recently, Pimax presented the Crystal Super and Crystal Light VR headsets.
Free VR horror on Halloween: The Exorcist Legion VR gets a free epilogue update
VR horror game The Exorcist: Legion VR is getting a free content update. Starting October 15th, you can unlock the new DLC "Epilogue" on Meta Quest. All you need to do is complete all five main chapters. In Epilogue, you will return to a world of horror and face a malevolent force once again. The new chapter offers a thrilling investigation and confronts you with the psychological consequences of previous encounters with evil. The update is available free of charge for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S and other Quest headsets from the Meta Horizon Store.
Starship Troopers: Continuum for Meta Quest & PSVR 2 delayed to November
Publisher Sony Pictures Virtual Reality has announced the delay of Starship Troopers: Continuum. The VR game will now be released on November 14th for Meta Quest and November 25th for Playstation VR 2 to give the developers more time for playtesting, polishing and bug fixes. Starship Troopers: Continuum was originally scheduled for release on October 17th and 31st. The studio responsible, XR Games, has been in crisis since the release of Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded and numerous employees have been laid off.
