Meta improves Quest Pro eye tracking
The Meta Quest Pro has received software update number 55. Among other things, it states: "We’ve improved eye tracking on Quest Pro to make it more accurate across a broader field of view and during expressions like winking". Meta also notes that eye tracking calibration can be repeated at any time: "For the most accurate eye tracking, you can always recalibrate by going to Movement Tracking in Settings, then Eye tracking, then Calibrate eye tracking".
Apple Vision Pro: Very limited quantities - because of Sony?
Sony makes the OLED panels that Apple uses for Vision Pro. However, Sony reportedly has a production capacity of only 900,000 units per year. Apple needs two displays per VR/AR headset, which would severely limit the number of headsets. To increase the number of headsets, and possibly deliver a cheaper version later, Apple will need more suppliers or Sony will have to increase production. Sony is said to have turned down such a request. Apple has apparently already revised its sales target sharply downwards.
Apple Vision Pro: Sales target significantly reduced
According to a report, Apple has significantly lowered its original sales target of one million units for the Apple Vision Pro, its virtual and augmented reality headset. New estimates put the number of VR/AR headsets to be sold at around 150,000.
