Swedish VR studio Fast Travel Games sold more than 1 million VR games
Fast Travel Games has already sold over 1 million VR games and expects strong growth in the coming years.
Stockholm-based VR game developer and publisher Fast Travel Games has sold more than one million VR games, according to Swedish media. The company now has twelve titles in its portfolio. The biggest sales market is the USA.
In 2023, Fast Travel Games generated revenues of 83 million Swedish kronor (approx. $7.7 million) and posted an EBITDA loss of 12 million kronor (approx. $1.1 million). However, growth over the previous year was 46 percent.
One step at a time
Due to increasing platform competition, falling hardware prices and a growing number of VR players, Burman expects the industry to grow strongly over the next three years. In order to be prepared for this, Fast Travel Games has secured investments of 4.3 million US Dollars through a new share issue in October 2023. This will be used to invest in the studio and future games.
Burman recently spoke pragmatically to Game Developer about his studio's potential expansion: "We have to keep making games good enough to keep encouraging audiences to get into VR, and that's a step-by-step process. It's only when we see larger growth on that side that we can really consider how much bigger our studio can be."
One of the publisher's upcoming titles is the promising VR multiplayer game Mannequin, due out later this year. Its most successful release to date is the stealth RPG Vampire: The Masquerade — Justice, which sold over 100,000 copies last year in the winter months of November and December alone.
