Meta Quest 3's accessories and EU prices apparently leaked
It looks like an online store has leaked the official accessories for Meta Quest 3, including European prices.
While Meta Quest 3 was announced in June, Meta remained silent about possible accessories. These will most likely be fully revealed along with the headset on September 27th at Meta Connect 2023.
The online store UnboundXR.eu is already listing accessories and their prices for Quest 3, as spotted by Reddit user u/Fredrikco. Another Reddit user said he contacted the store, and they claim the information comes directly from Meta. Currently, the store's listings are still accessible.
These are the listed accessories for Quest 3
The online store lists the following products and EU prices, which include tax:
- Meta Quest 3 Silicone Face Interface (Black) for €49.99
- Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case for €79.99
- Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery for €149.99
- Meta Quest 3 Charging Dock for €149.99
The regular non-battery Elite strap is not listed, but should be coming as well. October 2023 is mentioned as the expected release date for the listed accessories. The Meta Quest could be released as early as mid-October, but that's unconfirmed.
The Quest 2's accessories are a bit cheaper in direct comparison, at least in supported EU countries. The official charging dock, which is new for the consumer-oriented Quest product line, will cost a whopping €149.99. While the Meta Quest 3 will most likely be subsidized, Meta seems intent on making a big profit on the accessories.
By the way, if you already have an Elite Strap for Quest 2, you won't be able to use it with Quest 3, so you'll have to buy a new one, from Meta or another vendor.
Higher storage SKU comes with a hefty surcharge
The online store also lists the unannounced Quest 3 SKU with expanded storage. In addition to the base model with 128 GB of storage, which will cost $499, there will be a version with 512 GB of storage that will cost €699, which will most likely translate to $599 in the US.
The question is whether 128GB of storage will be enough in the long run, especially with big upcoming titles like Asgard's Wrath 2 likely to take up a lot of space. The base model of Meta Quest 2 originally had a paltry 64GB of storage, and was replaced by a 128GB SKU in August 2021. In addition, Meta Quest 2 is also available with a 256GB storage option.
