No room for VR blockbusters: The Meta Quest charts are full of gorillas, cats and boxers
Free games and casual titles dominate the Meta Quest charts, while big releases struggle.
Beat Saber, the VR rhythm game that's been a consistent top performer, has fallen out of the top three spots for the first time in weeks. The new leader is I Am Security, which knocked the early access boxing game The Thrill of the Fight 2 from its top position. The quirky cat simulator called I Am Cat rounds out the top three.
According to Tomislav's hands-on, I Am Security focuses on accessibility. "I Am Security is designed for accessibility: It eschews artificial locomotion and thrives on interaction with the immediate environment, situational comedy, and stylized graphics," he explains.
Looking at Meta Quest's revenue charts, the free multiplayer phenomenon Gorilla Tag maintains its lead, with Beat Saber and Roblox following close behind. I Am Security sits in fifth place on this list.
Big budget VR Games struggle to find their audience
The latest major VR releases are notably absent from both charts. Metro Awakening and Batman: Arkham Shadow can't be found in Meta Quest's top 50. The same goes for Behemoth, which barely makes it to 43rd place in sales.
Assassin's Creed Nexus VR from Ubisoft is holding on at number 20, but that's about it for big-budget titles. The trends suggest Meta Quest's audience skews younger, preferring lighter entertainment, affordable early access games, and free-to-play experiences over premium blockbuster titles.

VR game charts now also by revenue
To enable a fairer presentation of paid VR games and free-to-play titles, Meta has introduced another chart category in addition to the bestseller lists in the Quest Store.
As Meta states, this ranking is based on the total revenue of VR games instead of pure download figures.
