What VR and MR games are coming this month? Here are some of the most promising titles for all major platforms.

Human Within (January 9th for Meta Quest)

Human Within is an interactive movie that combines a branching storyline with light gameplay elements.

The story follows cyber-engineer Nyla and her sister Linh, who are developing a groundbreaking supercomputer for a corporation that wants to harness the processing power of the human brain. When Nyla attempts to withdraw from the project, the two sisters are held captive and forced to continue working, despite suspecting their employer's hidden motives. In a daring attempt to break free, Nyla is forced to use the technology on Linh in exactly the way she feared.

Human Within is coming to the Horizon Store.

Pirates VR: Jolly Roger (January 14th for PC VR)

Pirates VR takes you to a cursed Caribbean island full of mystery, danger and buried treasure. Accompanied by a sarcastic but helpful parrot companion, explore a lush jungle, dark caves and underwater grottos searching for Davy Jones' fabled treasure.

The landscapes and dungeons are free to explore. You can climb over rocks, abseil down steep cliffs, and dive through hidden caves.

The studio promises intense and varied combat: You will fight undead pirates, cursed skeletons and wild animals with a mix of classic pirate weapons such as flintlock pistols and magical tools. In between battles, solve puzzles to unlock hidden paths, disarm ancient traps, and uncover the dark secrets of the island.

Pirates VR: Jolly Roger is coming to Steam. A Playstation VR 2 version is planned for the second quarter of 2025.

Arken Age (January 16th for PC VR, Playstation VR 2)

In Arken Age, you explore the Bio-Chasm, a terraformed realm created by a divine being, the Great Arborist, to extract the energy source Arkenite. When contact with the Creator is lost and the usurper Hyperion and his legion invade the Bio-Chasm, you join forces with the alien race Nara to repel the invaders and discover what happened to the Great Arborist.

There are 25 areas to explore in the single-player campaign, which lasts approximately ten hours. Your full-body avatar allows you to move about freely, jump, crawl, swim, and even climb using extendable pickaxes. The same tool can also be used to mine arkenite shards to replenish your melee and ranged weapons with fresh energy and ammunition.

The studio also promises collectibles, weapon mods, crafting, and epic bosses with battle phases that require well-timed attacks and defenses.

Arken Age is coming to Steam and the Playstation Store.

Assetto Corsa EVO (January 16th in Early Access for PC-VR)

The original Assetto Corsa already offered optional VR support and is considered one of the best VR racing games ever.

Developer Kunos Simulazioni describes the successor as follows

"As with its predecessor, Assetto Corsa EVO will include cars from different classes spanning across years of motoring history. From road cars, classics, hypercars, and race cars. The most iconic representation of the automotive and motorsport world. Each vehicle is reproduced through an advanced system that simulates mechanical, electronic, and aerodynamic performance, combined with the fidelity of the circuits created using Laserscan technology.

With the launch of a new KUNOS Simulazioni proprietary, high-performance photorealistic engine, VR and triple screen support have become first-class features and the new mathematical model meticulously simulates asphalt performance in different dynamic weather conditions that guarantees an authentic and realistic experience which will redefine the standards that have made Assetto Corsa globally renowned."

COLD VR (January 21st for Meta Quest, PC VR)

After Vendetta Forever and Action Hero, Cold VR is another VR game inspired by the classic Superhot VR, with a unique twist: time only stands still as long as you move, not the other way around.

Cold VR is coming to the Horizon Store and Steam. A Playstation VR 2 version will be released at a later date.

Beyond Blue: After The Storm (Meta Quest)

Beyond Blue is a diving game where you explore unique underwater biomes.

After a severe tropical storm damages an underwater research station, you must help repair the damage and help the creatures in the surrounding biosphere.

Beyond Blue: After The Storm is coming to the Horizon Store.

Boxing Underdog (Meta Quest)

Boxing Underdog is a VR boxing simulation that aims to stand out from the competition with its realism in both gameplay and visuals.

It offers a single player mode and a multiplayer mode with a customizable avatar. The former includes a career mode where you can work your way up the ranks, as well as training modules where you can learn authentic boxing techniques and improve your footwork. For the multiplayer mode, the studio promises a friend and leaderboard, fast combat and matchmaking.

Boxing Underdog is coming to the Horizon Store.

Fitness Fables (Meta Quest)

Fitness Fables combines a story-driven action adventure with fitness game elements that takes you through the fantasy realm of Alterterra. It features 80 levels with 16 boss battles, 16 bonus challenges and 48 varied stages. It includes 24 different exercises such as power squats, rope swings and battle ropes to help you improve your strength, endurance and coordination.

With customizable gameplay, Fitness Fables appeals to both beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts.
