Become Indiana Jones in virtual reality: Tomb Explorer VR launches in Early Access
Explore ancient temple ruins as a VR archaeologist in the style of Indiana Jones and Lara Croft in Tomb Explorer VR.
The PC VR game Tomb Explorer VR is now available on Steam. As an adventurous VR archaeologist in the style of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, you will explore temple ruins and detailed replicas of ancient tombs, solve tricky puzzles and track down legendary artifacts.
According to the developers, the VR environments and background stories for the locations are historically accurate. You will encounter Petra tombs on rocky cliffs, Inca jungles in Peru, and deep natural caves with iconic Egyptian tombs.
During your treasure hunt, you will encounter dangerous traps, and in addition to exploration, enemies will provide combat challenges.
Tomb Explorer VR will first go through an early access phase and will cost just under $25. You can currently get the game for 20 percent off.
In the style of Indy and Lara Croft
Tomb Explorer VR is being developed by a small Canadian indie studio called Celeritas Games. The team consists of the brothers Claudiusz and Olaf Dudek, who have previously only realized smaller VR productions.
In May last year, the developers launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project. At the time, they promised a gaming experience in the style of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider for virtual reality.
The originally planned release date of Tomb Explorer VR in July was postponed at short notice in order to obtain further feedback from players through an additional public playtest. The studio also wanted to avoid the launch of the competing PC VR title Into the Radius 2, which was released at the same time.
