FACTS

VirtualAge and Fast Travel Games have released an update for the VR shooter Guardians Frontline. The update brings new enemy types, cosmetic improvements and an increased level cap on Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro and PC VR. Players who already own the main game on Meta Quest or SteamVR can download the update for free.

The update adds stronger enemy types with new attacks to the game. An evolved version of the spider-like Arack can now move underground. The new Siege Sentinel uses long-range projectile attacks, and there are stronger insect enemies with freeze attacks.

The level cap has been raised from 40 to 50, allowing new ranks to be reached. The highest rank is now Supreme Commander. Once you reach this rank, you will receive a new skin that provides 30 percent additional explosive damage protection.

In addition to the new enemies and cosmetic content, the update also includes a new attack for the AK20 weapon, as well as a number of bug fixes and improvements. The game's editor mode has also been updated.

CONTEXT

Guardians Frontline: A mixture of Starcraft and Halo

Guardians Frontline was released on the Meta Quest Store and SteamVR on March 9, 2023, and has already received several content updates. The sci-fi game combines real-time strategy and first-person shooter elements. You fight on the side of the Federation against an alien, bug-like race and command a group of humanoid combat robots. The game features multiple mission types and adds real-time strategy elements to the action-packed tower defense mechanics.

You can switch to a bird's-eye view at any time for a full view of the action and maneuver groups at key locations. In addition to the single-player campaign, Guardians Frontline offers a skirmish mode in which you can conquer different planets, a co-op mode for up to four players and PvP multiplayer battles for up to eight players. A map editor allows you to create your own mission areas.
