The VR game based on manga mega-hit Attack on Titan launches on Meta Quest in July
In Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable, you will soon be able to mow down Titans as a recruit of the Scout Regiment on the Meta Quest.
The VR adaptation of the manga mega-hit Attack on Titan will launch in Early Access on the Meta Horizon Store on July 23, 2024. The VR game will be available for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro and will initially cost 4.99 US dollars. There seems to be a lot of content for that, as the Early Access includes the first two chapters, each with a playtime of 2 to 3 hours.
Later this year, the 1.0 build of the first two chapters will be completed, and additional chapters will be added to the Early Access version. The developers also plan to implement a co-op mode. When exactly the regular retail price will be introduced and how high it will be has not yet been determined.
Hunt Titans with the Scout Regiment
Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is a first-person action-adventure platformer in which you take on the role of a recruit in the Scout Regiment. You must defend humanity from the invading Titans after they break through the Wall of Maria.
Players will use the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear familiar from the original to navigate through cities and complete tasks such as defending outposts and securing supplies. The game features a progression system where you can collect stars to unlock better equipment and new abilities.
Attack on Titan VR comes with Japanese and English voices and subtitles in both languages. Those familiar with the anime may recognize some of the voices, as both the English and Japanese voice actors from the anime return to reprise their roles.
UNIVRS: "We heard the fans"
The VR studio responsible for Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable is UNIVRS, which previously published Little Witch Academia VR: Broom Racing. The founders are Keigo and Shun Fujikawa, known in Japan as the "VR Brothers".
UNIVRS' CEO Keigo Fujikawa explained that the studio has listened to the voices of the fans and will give them what they want with the VR adaptation of the popular manga.
Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable was announced back in 2022, but the VR game has been quiet ever since. During the Early Access phase, the developers are asking fans to join the official Discord server to provide feedback.
