The crazy card game Exploding Kittens is coming to Meta Quest

The popular card game Exploding Kittens is coming to Meta Quest as a VR title. Find out what to expect in the party game here.

FACTS

Developed under license from Asmodee Entertainment and published by Saber Interactive, Exploding Kittens VR will be released this fall for Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, and Quest Pro. The VR game is based on the card game of the same name.

Exploding Kittens VR aims to combine the humorous strategy and chaos of the original game with the immersive experience of VR. Up to five players can compete online or against AI opponents, forcing their opponents to pull the infamous Exploding Kitten. The last one standing wins.

The game is played in three different game modes: Classic Mode, Blitz Mode with up to five players, or Duel Mode against a single opponent. You can customize your avatars and there will also be a social lobby to explore and mini-games.

CONTEXT

From web comic to card game to VR

The original card game Exploding Kittens was a huge success in 2015, thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $8 million. Since then, adaptations for iOS smartphones and localized versions for worldwide markets have followed. An animated streaming series will also launch this summer.

Exploding Kittens was created by Oatmeal webcomic creators Matthew Inman, Elan Lee and Shane Small. It is a fast-paced card game for 2 to 5 players in which you must avoid exploding kittens. The humorous art style and simple gameplay make it a popular party game.
