Military shooters dominate PSVR 2 download charts
Sony revealed the top downloads of the past month. Which PSVR 2 games were most popular in August 2023?
August saw the release of some major titles such as Crossfire: Sierra Squad, Green Hell VR, and most notably Firewall Ultra, while Phasmophobia was delayed until October.
The tactical shooter Firewall Ultra was one of the most anticipated VR games for Playstation VR 2, but some players were disappointed by some VR design choices, an unbalanced progression system, and bugs. Despite this, the VR game topped the download charts in North America and the EU in August.
The studio is currently working on patches and new content to make Firewall Ultra the VR game that many fans of the first game have been hoping for.
Three military shooters in the top four
In second and third place are Beat Saber and the tactical shooter Pavlov, which has been a constant presence in the top downloads. It will be interesting to see if Pavlov overtakes Firewall Ultra in September.
In fourth place is Crossfire: Sierra Squad, another military shooter in which you play only against computer opponents, but alongside one or more friends. Crossfire: Sierra Squad was released on PSVR 2 and Steam in late August. Some players disliked the extremely linear level design and game direction, while others loved it.
Green Hell VR also made the charts, although some fans were disappointed by the low render resolution. Incuvo promised an update to improve this and other aspects.
Red Matter 2, released in May and perhaps the most beautiful VR game for Playstation VR 2, and the zombie epic Saints & Sinners 2 are still holding a position in the charts. Skydance Interactive's next big VR project, the adventure game Behemoth, will be released at the end of the year.
