Your journey will take you through a city where technology and magic merge, and across an ancient desert. To solve puzzles and fight battles, you must assemble spells from words in ten different languages.

According to 30 Parallel Games, the "Spell-Finitive Edition" contains numerous improvements and new content compared to the Early Access version:

  • Three new locations with expanded storylines and additional side quests
  • A multiplayer mode for up to four players
  • New spells for additional challenges, enemies, and puzzles
  • Revised combat mechanics and leveling system
  • Improved interface and animations
  • Improved speech recognition for more accurate spell casting

At launch, 30 Parallel Games is offering Terra Alia at half price. The offer is valid for the first month after release.

Learning languages in virtual reality

There are now a number of apps that aim to teach you foreign languages in virtual reality. Compared to pure learning applications, Terra Alia focuses more on gameplay. Noun Town, for example, takes a similarly playful approach. The app offers various mini-games that you have to solve using your language skills.

The Mondly app, which is also available for Meta Quest, puts you in everyday situations where you need to acquire language skills. If you prefer a more "traditional" approach with real teachers, lessons, and conversation partners, you should check out apps like Immerse.
