New images give the clearest view of Meta Quest 3S yet
The announcement of Meta Quest 3S is only a few weeks away. Meanwhile, there are new images from official and unofficial sources.
New images of the VR industry's worst-kept secret surfaced over the weekend.
The first render (see article image) comes from Meta itself and was found in the test version of Meta's PC VR Link software. It was spotted by a Reddit user. It is the clearest depiction of the Meta Quest 3S so far.
More images have been released by Chinese accessory makers. They show the upcoming VR headset with what appears to be a cover for the front and facial interface, as well as an alternative rigid head strap. Just last week, dataminers hinted at Meta's official VR accessories for the Quest 3S.

The following image shows the inside of the device, which is very similar to the Quest 2. Both VR headsets rely on Fresnel lenses, which results in a thicker profile than the Quest 3.
The new button on the bottom of the headset, which could be an action button, is also clearly visible.

What is Meta Quest 3S?
The Meta Quest 3S will be a cheaper version of the Quest 3 and will replace the sold-out Quest 2.
The headset will reportedly have the more powerful chipset of the Quest 3, color pass-through, the same ringless Touch Plus controllers and feature parity in the software, but will use the lower resolution display and Fresnel lenses of the Quest 2. The price is expected to be around $300-400. The Quest 3 costs $500.
The headset will be unveiled at Meta Connect 2024 on September 25th.
