Kingdom Come Deliverance II gets its first VR mod

You can now experience Kingdom Come Deliverance II with a VR headset, thanks to Luke Ross' R.E.A.L. VR Mod.
Luke Ross has released version 18.0.0 of his R.E.A.L. VR Mod on his Patreon page, adding support for Kingdom Come Deliverance II.
The R.E.A.L. VR Mod supports 6DoF headset tracking, which means that your head movements are translated one-to-one into the game world. Since the R.E.A.L. VR Mod is not designed for motion controls, you will need to play with a gamepad or mouse and keyboard. Ross recommends the first option for the optimal VR experience. Aiming is gaze-driven and extremely fast, intuitive and accurate, according to Ross.
Most of the cutscenes are fully 3D and allow you to look around without restriction. Some cutscenes were pre-recorded by the developers and saved as video files, and Ross had no choice but to display them on a virtual 2D screen. Speaking of screens: With the VR mod, you can switch to a 2D mode at any time if the game becomes too challenging or otherwise overwhelming in VR.
The mod was tested with the Steam version of Kingdom Come Deliverance II, but others should also work according to Ross.
You can download the VR mod from Luke Ross' Patreon page. There you will also find installation instructions and important tips for the optimal VR configuration. Membership is $10 per month.
Luke Ross and his R.E.A.L. VR mod
Luke Ross has been developing VR mods since 2017.
His R.E.A.L. VR mod is based on Alternate Eye Rendering (AER), which renders an image alternately for the left and right eyes instead of simultaneously, with the side effect of causing ghosting. In March 2023, Ross introduced AER v2, an improved version of the rendering technology that reduces ghosting, for all supported games. This was followed in late 2024 by an update that provides a much sharper image when DLSS is enabled.
The R.E.A.L. VR Mod now supports 31 games, including major flat titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, both parts of Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spider-Man and Uncharted 4. You can find a complete list below.
In an interview with MIXED, Ross argued that the VR market should have evolved along familiar gaming paradigms. For him, that means game pad-only VR. He described the introduction of VR controllers as a fatal mistake for the industry, as developers had to adapt to completely new forms of interaction, which deterred many studios from jumping on the VR bandwagon.
His VR mods were not always well received. He was forced by Take-Two to remove all VR mods for the publisher's games. GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mafia Definitive Edition were affected.
