Feel the Action: Assassin's Creed Mirage haptic shirt makes gaming tangible
A haptic t-shirt in the style of Assassin's Creed Mirage makes knife stabs and climbing missions tangible through electric shocks.
The haptics experts at OWO are teaming up with Ubisoft to release an officially licensed Assassin's Creed Mirage-style haptic t-shirt. "OWO Skin" will be available in a bundle with the video game.
OWO Skin lets you feel virtual knife stabs
The haptic OWO Skin shirt is not for the faint of heart. It uses electrical impulses to simulate, for example, gunshot or knife wounds on your own body that you suffer in a video or VR game. The impulses are transmitted to the skin through a total of ten electrodes.
OWO Skin can be used in PC, console and VR games. Currently supported games include Half-Life: Alyx, Beat Saber, Until You Fall, Arizona Sunshine, and popular online games such as Among Us, PUBG, CS GO, League of Legends, Fortnite, and The Forest. Now, Assassin's Creed Mirage adds another big name to the list.
Haptic shirt with Assassin's Creed design
The Assassin's Creed Mirage Edition of the OWO Haptic Gaming System includes the OWO Skin haptic t-shirt in the exclusive Assassin's Creed design, including accessories such as charging cables and gel pads for changing.
Also included is a download code for the action-adventure game Assassin's Creed Mirage, due out October 12, 2023, in which you maneuver the assassin Basim through 9th century Baghdad. The price and release date of the bundle are not yet known. The standard version of the haptic shirt costs 499 Euros (ca. $560).
According to Owo, the shirt is supposed to accurately reproduce Basim's movements. So, you'll feel the odd bounce during the game's signature parcours elements or the wind on the high vantage points. No word yet on whether OWO Skin will also support the series' VR spin-off, which has been announced for winter 2023. Assassin's Creed Nexus VR will be released for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Quest Pro.
