Meta Quest 2 and Pro: Microsoft previews Azure Remote Rendering

Developers can now experiment with a preview of Microsoft's Azure Remote Rendering (ARR) for Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro. ARR allows highly detailed 3D content to be rendered in the cloud and streamed to VR headsets. In October 2022, Meta announced a partnership with Microsoft. The goal was to bring Windows 11 and Office apps to the Quest platform via cloud. However, nothing has been heard since. The ARR tests suggest that the features might come after all.

More information about ARR for Meta Quest and first examples of implementations can be found in Microsoft's blogpost.

This would certainly be a controversial move, considering the $3,500 price tag of the device.
