Lenovo Glasses T1: Virtual monitor for mobile devices

Lenovo is launching a new pair of display glasses that can be used to stream content from mobile devices to a virtual screen.

With the Lenovo Glasses T1, you can extend the screen of mobile devices with a virtual monitor and thus experience a touch of augmented reality. Content from the connected player is streamed directly to the headset's micro OLED display. According to Lenovo, it can be used to play games, watch movies or do office work.

Compatible with Android, Windows or iOS

Exactly which devices and models are supported remains open for now. So far, Lenovo only mentions "many modern smartphones, tablets and laptops". The glasses require a "fully functional" USB-C port on the connected device and the operating systems Android, Windows, macOS and iOS.

For Apple devices with Lightning connector, the headset has to be paired with a Lenovo HDMI-to-Glasses adapter and the Apple Lightning Digital AV adapter. The adapters, though, are not part of the package.

Full HD at 60 Hz

The T1's micro OLED displays resolve with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels per eye, just like the Nreal Light AR headset. Lenovo specifies a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The refresh rate is 60 Hz according to the manufacturer. However, Lenovo is silent about the size of the field of view.

Adjustable temples make the T1 customizable, and speakers are also integrated into the frame. Lenovo also supplies interchangeable nose clips in different sizes and a clip-on frame for individual corrective lenses.

Lenovo Glasses T1: price and release

Lenovo does not make any concrete statements about the battery life of the glasses. The device is supposed to be able to stream videos from connected mobile devices or play games "for hours" without draining the battery of the connected devices. Thus, the battery capacity of the connected device will be key.

Lenovo has not yet announced how much the "Wearable Display Solution" will cost. There is also no concrete release date yet. In China, the T1 glasses are to be launched under the name "Lenovo Yoga Glasses" at the end of 2022. Other selected markets will follow in 2023.
