The controversial cult shooter Postal 2 is coming to Virtual Reality

Controversial, but loved by fans: Postal 2 goes VR. Flat2VR Studios announces the conversion of the scandalous shooter for Meta Quest, PSVR 2 and PC VR.
During the VR Games Showcase, Flat2VR Studios announced that the cult classic shooter Postal 2 is getting a VR adaptation for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2, and PC VR platforms. While they've released an initial trailer, the exact release date remains under wraps.
The studio didn't stop there — they also revealed several other VR ports in the pipeline. These include the dungeon crawler Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok, the horror title Out of Sight, and Paradox Interactive's strategy classic Surviving Mars: Pioneer.
For their previously announced Roboquest port, Flat2VR showed off new gameplay footage highlighting the fast-paced first-person shooter's roguelite mechanics in VR. Roboquest will launch this fall for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2, and PC VR, featuring both single-player and two-player co-op modes.

It's not just another VR port
Postal 2 VR puts you back in the shoes of the "Postal Dude," who must survive a week of mundane errands in Paradise, Arizona. What starts as a simple to-do list — buying milk or returning an overdue library book — can quickly spiral into chaos and violence.
Flat2VR emphasizes that this isn't just another VR port. They're rebuilding the game from scratch for virtual reality, implementing manual weapon controls, gesture-based NPC interactions, and physics-driven melee combat. The inventory system and minimap are also getting complete VR-specific overhauls.
The new VR version promises several major features:
- An Open Sandbox World: Paradise serves as an interactive playground filled with unpredictable NPCs, from unhinged rednecks to corrupt cops. The dynamic AI system can trigger spontaneous events like riots or shootouts.
- Extensive Arsenal: Players get access to an array of absurd weapons, ranging from shotguns and rocket launchers to an infected cow head and the infamous "cat silencer."
- Interactive Environment: The game world features detailed physics effects and numerous interaction possibilities, letting players explore iconic locations like Uncle Dave's compound and Krotchy's toy store.
Postal 2: A controversial story
The original release of Postal 2 sparked intense debate around the world in 2003. German authorities, for example, quickly banned the game, citing its potential for extreme violence. The developers pushed back, arguing that players could choose to complete the game without violence — though this defense didn't sway regulators.
The controversy hasn't faded with time. As recently as 2021, German officials rejected a request to lift the ban early. Currently, German Steam users can't even purchase the PC version, and it's unclear how Flat2VR plans to handle the VR release in Germany.
