FACTS

As Nvidia announced at CES 2025, all new graphics cards are based on the Blackwell architecture, which is equipped with up to 92 billion transistors. The new GDDR7 memory, which achieves speeds of up to 30 Gbps, is being used for the first time.

The central innovation is the DLSS 4 technology with multi-frame generation, which can generate up to three additional frames per rendered frame. Together with the "RTX Neural Shaders," Nvidia promises an up to eight-fold increase in performance compared to traditional rendering.

The first two models RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will go on sale on January 30, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will follow in February. In addition to the Founders Editions from Nvidia, partner cards from manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and ZOTAC will also be available.

RTX 5090: The new flagship with record-breaking specifications

The top-of-the-range RTX 5090 model impressively demonstrates what is possible with the new Blackwell architecture. With its theoretical computing power of 109 teraflops, it outperforms the RTX 4090 by almost a third. Thanks to DLSS 4, you could play games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Alan Wake 2 in 4K with 240 FPS and ray tracing enabled.

The most important facts about the RTX 5090:

  • 32 GB GDDR7 memory with 1,792 GB/s bandwidth
  • 21,760 CUDA cores, 680 Tensor cores (5th gen)
  • Boost clock: 2,410 MHz, 109 teraflops computing power
  • Power consumption: 575 watts
  • Price: $2,329 (release: January 30)

However, the enormous performance comes at a price: with a maximum power consumption of 575 watts, the RTX 5090 is significantly higher than its predecessor. The purchase price of $2,329 also represents a record.

The Founders Edition comes in an innovative 2-slot design with "Double Flow Through" cooling, in which the PCB has been designed so compactly that both fans can blow through unhindered.

RTX 5080: Evolutionary progress in the high-end class

The RTX 5080 is based on 10,752 shader cores and 16 GB GDDR7 memory with a bandwidth of 960 GB/s. The leap in performance compared to its predecessor is more moderate - the improvements are mainly due to the new architecture and software features.

The most important facts about the RTX 5080:

  • 16 GB GDDR7 memory with 960 GB/s bandwidth
  • 10,752 CUDA cores
  • Boost clock: 2,480 MHz
  • Power consumption: 320 watts
  • Price: $1,169 (release: January 30)

With a price of $1,169, Nvidia has positioned the card significantly below the flagship. The performance gap to the RTX 5090 is greater than with the previous generation.

The RTX 5080 also benefits from the new cooling concept of the Founders Edition, which ensures efficient heat dissipation despite the compact 2-slot design.

RTX 5070 Ti: Upper mid-range with generous memory configuration

The RTX 5070 Ti surprises with a generous 16 GB GDDR7 memory and a memory bandwidth of 896 GB/s. With its 8,960 shader cores, it offers a solid basis for gaming in high resolutions.

The most important facts about the RTX 5070 Ti:

  • 16 GB GDDR7 memory with 896 GB/s bandwidth
  • 8,960 CUDA cores
  • Boost clock: 2,340 MHz
  • Power consumption: 285 watts
  • Price: $879 (release: February)

The boost clock is slightly lower than its predecessor, but you benefit from DLSS 4 and the new AI features. For $879, the card offers an interesting alternative if the RTX 5080 is too expensive for you.

RTX 5070: Entry into the new generation

With the RTX 5070, Nvidia offers you the cheapest entry into the new RTX generation. Although the card with its 6,144 shader cores is closer to the RTX 4070 than the 4070 Super, you also benefit from all the new features such as DLSS 4 and the improved AI capabilities. The card is even said to be as powerful as an RTX 4090, which would be absolutely unbeatable for the relatively low price.

The most important facts about the RTX 5070:

  • 12 GB GDDR7 memory with 672 GB/s bandwidth
  • 6,144 CUDA cores
  • Boost clock: 2,460 MHz
  • Power consumption: 220 watts
  • Price: $649 (release: February)

The card is optimally designed for gaming in 1440p resolution, and the lower power consumption and price also make the RTX 5070 a very fascinating graphics card when it's time for you to upgrade.
