Competition for Meta: These smart glasses with AI assistant cost just 200 dollars - if you hurry
Looktech launches innovative smart glasses with voice AI and 13 MP camera on Kickstarter — starting at $200.
Looktech Inc. has announced its new AI glasses that combine a personalized AI assistant called "Memo" with voice control and a 13 MP camera. According to Looktech, the assistant is based on GPT4o, Gemini and Claude and continuously learns from interactions with users.
Hey Memo, pick up the phone
The glasses can be activated with the voice command "Hey Memo" or an AI button and allows you to answer calls, play music and control various tasks by voice. The built-in 13-megapixel camera with image stabilization captures high-resolution photos and 2K video.
According to the manufacturer, the Looktech headset offers up to 14 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 6, open-ear speakers, a noise-canceling microphone, and 32 GB of memory. The TR-90 frame weighs 37 grams without lenses and is available in a variety of colors and with transition, polarized or prescription lenses.
Don't miss out: in the MIXED Advent Calendar, you can win VR games or VR accessories every day.
Funding goal reached in just one day
The AI glasses have been available on Kickstarter since December 12th for Super-Early-Bird backers starting at $209. VIP backers can purchase it for $199. Deliveries are expected to begin in April 2025.
In the Kickstarter campaign, the company set a funding goal of the equivalent of about $18,000. After just one day, backers had already raised nearly $74,000.
The project will run until February 5, 2025. Once the quota for early bird backers is exhausted, the purchase price will increase to the regular $349.
Focus on privacy
According to Looktech, the focus is on the protection of personal data, which should appeal to those who have previously avoided devices such as the Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses due to privacy concerns. Transmission is TLS encrypted and stored data is secured with bank grade AES encryption.
All data is anonymized prior to interaction with ChatGPT. Voice recognition also ensures that only the owner can activate the AI assistant.
Looktech is working with Wenzhou Ouhai Glasses Co., an established glasses manufacturer with over 30 years of experience, to produce the AI glasses. The company produces about 20 million glasses per year.
Looktech itself was founded by Zhejiang University graduates Haoxiang Yi (CEO) and Luyao Tong (CTO), and is a brand of Entertech, a biosensor technology company founded in 2014. The AI glasses will debut at CES 2025.
