FACTS

Split Light announces the release date of Pirates VR: Jolly Roger:

The PC VR version will be released on January 14, 2025, on Steam, where you can already add the VR game to your wishlist. The PSVR 2 version will follow in the second quarter of 2025.

CONTEXT

What is Pirates VR: Jolly Roger?

Pirates VR takes you to a cursed Caribbean island full of mystery, danger and buried treasure. Accompanied by a sarcastic but helpful parrot companion, you will explore a lush jungle, dark caves and underwater grottos searching for Davy Jones' fabled treasure.

The landscapes and dungeons look great in the pictures and can be freely explored by climbing over rocks, abseiling down steep cliffs, and dive through hidden caves.

The studio promises intense and varied combat: You will face undead pirates, cursed skeletons, and wild animals with a mix of classic pirate weapons like flintlock pistols and magical tools. In between battles, you will solve puzzles to unlock hidden paths, disarm ancient traps, and uncover the dark secrets of the island.

Offering both practical tips and entertaining commentary, the humorous parrot companion is an indispensable companion on this perilous journey.

Pirates VR: Jolly Roger has been in development for quite some time. The first developer post on the Steam page dates back to Christmas 2022. Split Light is a VR studio from Poland that previously developed the relatively unknown VR horror game Afterlife VR. Will Pirates VR be more than just a graphics dazzler? We'll find out in January.

If you like VR pirate adventures like this one, you should also check out Bootstrap Island, which has been available in Early Access since early 2024.
