Piñata VRmageddon brings a colorful wave-shooter apocalypse to virtual reality
Nerd Ninjas announces Rogue Piñatas: VRmageddon, a chaotic VR co-op game coming to Meta Quest and SteamVR in early 2025.
Nerd Ninjas plans to release Rogue Piñatas: VRmageddon for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S and SteamVR with cross-play support in early 2025. The colorful VR game puts you in a "party-apocalyptic world" where you must battle hordes of piñata animals alone or in co-op.
The development team describes Rogue Piñatas as a chaotic, social VR experience with rogue elements. Players can team up with up to three other survivors to collect XP and fight their way through levels. The goal is to destroy increasingly large and chaotic waves of piñata enemies that release candy when destroyed.
Nerd Ninjas plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign this month and a closed beta before the end of the year.
Unique characters, diverse enemies and cross-play
Rogue Piñatas: VRmageddon offers the following features:
- Co-op gameplay: up to four players can team up on Meta Quest or SteamVR to take on the piñata hordes together. Cross-play between platforms is supported.
- Unique characters: Each character has special abilities and starts with their own standard weapon. Weapon upgrades can be unlocked and different play styles explored as the game progresses.
- Varied enemies and levels: Players can expect varied stages with numerous piñata enemies, including classic donkeys and stars, as well as bulls, lizards and unicorns.
- Secrets and explosions: Each level promises spectacular explosion effects and hidden secrets to be discovered.
- Roguelite elements: By unlocking secret weapons and gadgets, players can develop their character as they progress through the game.
