Retro feeling on Quest 3: Arcade Legend brings 8-bit gaming to Virtual Reality
18 unique 8-bit retro games await you in the Retro Indie Update for Arcade Legend, now available on Meta Quest.
ArcadeXR has released a free update for Arcade Legend on Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro. The "Retro Indie Update" includes a new venue and 18 unique 8-bit retro arcade games, officially licensed from indie studios and originally developed for the Pico-8 Fantasy Console.
The update introduces Arcade Galactic, a new game environment in Arcade Legend modeled after an authentic 80s neon-lit arcade. It features all 18 arcades from the Retro Indie Update, which you can control with virtual joysticks and buttons.
There are also leaderboards and multiplayer lobbies to make the high score hunt even more exciting. Arcade Legend and the Retro Indie Update are available now in the Meta Quest Store. A PC VR version via Steam will also be released soon.
Good times for arcade fans in VR
In the main game, Arcade Legend, you take on the role of the manager of a run-down arcade that you must help restore to glory. As you progress, you will unlock new machines to attract new customers.
If you enjoy retro games in VR, then Arcade Paradise VR for Meta Quest should be on your list. As a rebellious teenager, you defy your father's wishes and choose to play arcade games instead of running the family business, an old laundromat.
You can unlock a total of 39 fully playable arcade machines. The recently announced VR game will also feature a Mixed Reality mode in Quest 3, where you can place virtual arcade machines in your physical environment and play on them.
