FACTS

The VR horror game Noclip VR takes you into the eerie world of the “backrooms”. Developed by SuperFPS, the VR game was first released in the App Lab and received a great response. More than 3,500 users rated the game with an average of 4.5 stars.

Noclip VR is now also available in the official Meta Quest Store for Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro. You can install and try the game for free. If you like the backroom horror, you can unlock the Supporter Bundle for $10. This will give you access to more than seven levels, two exclusive skins, and a supporter badge for your character.

According to the Meta Quest blog, you will explore what feels like “approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms where there’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz.”

You can explore the strange mazes alone or with friends. Your task is to solve puzzles and return to reality. Along the way, you will occasionally encounter unpleasant companions that you should not let catch up with you. Check out the VR backrooms in the launch trailer.

CONTEXT

Backrooms: From Creepypasta to Virtual Reality

Backrooms are a fictional concept that originated in a creepypasta and has since been expanded by internet users. They represent an endless labyrinth of empty offices, underground parking garages, maintenance corridors, and other so-called liminal spaces.

Over the years, the concept of backrooms has spawned a variety of little games, stories, and horror videos on YouTube. The Apple TV series Severance was also inspired by backrooms.
