Across the Valley brings romantic farming to the PSVR 2

A German developer studio turns you into farmers in virtual reality. How does life feel among virtual pigs, cows, and chickens?

Work stress, inflation, pandemics, war, climate change, animal suffering – the world out there can sometimes be quite oppressive. In recent years, more and more gamers have sought refuge in so-called "cozy games".

Games of this genre usually immerse you in a harmonious world where humans, animals, and nature live in harmony. These games often paint a romanticized picture of farming without stress and suffering. You comfortably plant gardens or fields, harvest crops, and lovingly raise animals.

This immersion in ideal worlds now goes one step further. A mix of Harvest Moon and Farming Simulator will soon transport you to a harmonious virtual reality in the countryside.

Across the Valley: Romantic Farming in VR

So far, the PSVR 2 has delivered big action titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil Village VR. But players who prefer a more leisurely pace will soon have something to look forward to. In "Across the Valley" from Leipzig-based developer studio FusionPlay, you become a VR farmer.

In a relaxed environment with hand-drawn pictures, you raise cute baby animals, milk cows, shear sheep or go truffle hunting with pigs.

Of course, you will also have to muck out the barns and cultivate the surrounding fields of your VR farm. But unlike the real thing, you only get your virtual hands dirty.

When the crops you've grown start to bear fruit, it's time to harvest and head to the market to sell your goods. You can use the proceeds to upgrade your farmhouse or expand your livestock.

Vacation on the VR Farm begins in April

To create a relaxed atmosphere during virtual farming, the right music is a must. The cozy soundtrack for Across the Valley is provided by award-winning game composers Dynamedion, who have previously been responsible for much less cozy games such as Hitman, Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11.

Across the Valley is scheduled for release on April 6th for Playstation VR 2 and SteamVR. Other VR platforms will be added later. A hand tracking implementation for Meta Quest 2 would certainly be exciting and would give VR builders a chance to really get their hands dirty.
