Watch the first 15 minutes of the most beautiful PSVR 2 game

The launch of Playstation VR 2 is just around the corner. A video shows the beginning of the graphically stunning flagship title Horizon - Call of the Mountain at 4K 60 FPS.

The VR game was developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite specifically for the Playstation VR 2 and takes full advantage of the technical features of Sony's new headset such as eye tracking, foveated rendering and haptics:

Youtuber Mike from Virtual Reality Oasis shows off the first 15 minutes of the game in a video - at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second.

And boy, does it look great! Horizon Call of the Mountain is also a real eye-catcher in 2D. On the Playstation VR 2's stereoscopic HDR displays, Mike calls it one of the most beautiful VR games he's ever played.

Horizon Call of the Mountain features perhaps the most graphically detailed VR world to date

The journey begins with a quiet river ride that gently introduces new VR players to the world they'll spend the next six to ten hours exploring, depending on their pace.

Within the first few minutes, you'll notice lifelike characters, realistic lighting and shadows, and fluidly animated machines that Mike says look much more menacing than their 2D counterparts in the Horizon saga.

Scale, as we know, is something that virtual reality does particularly well. It's no wonder the Youtuber was left speechless when a skyscraper-sized Robosaurus stomped past him with thunderous footsteps. Meanwhile, the headset's built-in haptic motor lets him feel the earth tremble.

The first five minutes are followed by a dive and a first stalk through the jungle, where you will have to prove your climbing skills in the sandals of the Shadow Carja warrior Ryas and shimmy over yawning chasms.

Playstation VR 2 launches February 22nd

When you reach the top of a mountain, the view opens up to a landscape with astonishing vistas that appear surprisingly sharp and clear thanks to foveated rendering.

Players will soon learn how to use a bow and arrow. Eye-tracking allows Mike to hit even the most distant targets.

In a village, players interact with items such as a drum, a pan flute, and objects that realistically break when mishandled. The game's in-depth introduction concludes with a first battle and a powerful view of a burning mountain village.

Playstation VR 2 will be available on February 22 for $600 bundled with Horizon Call of the Mountain. Without the VR game, the headset and Sense controller cost $550.
