HTC announces new Vive Flow smartphone Desire 22 pro

HTC markets the new HTC Desire 22 pro as the "ideal companion" for Vive Flow. The company offers the smartphone together with the VR headset in a bundle.

With the Vive Flow, HTC launched an innovative but not fully thought-out VR headset at the end of last year. Innovative because of the slim form factor and an excellent visual acuity system - not thought through to the end because the important streaming function was immature, a good input system is missing and the target group (meditation? wellness?) may at least be questioned.

HTC Desire 22 pro is supposed to improve the Vive Flow experience

The now newly announced mid-range Desire 22 pro smartphone is optimized specifically for Vive Flow, according to HTC. The smartphone supports HDCP 2.2, so Vive Flow users can stream content from Twitch, Disney+ or Netflix to the headset and watch it on a large virtual screen.

In terms of hardware, the Desire 22 pro offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage space and a 4520 mAh battery. The weight is 205.5 grams. According to HTC, the smartphone should be able to power the Vive Flow via reverse charging technology.

Also installed are various Vive apps, such as a Vive device manager or Viveverse, HTC's Metaverse proposal, as well as the digital crypto wallet Vive Wallet.
