Meta Quest Gaming Showcase: All announcements and trailers

The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is over. Here you can find all news, trailers and announcements at a glance.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution

The sequel to one of the best and most successful VR games will once again take you to devastated New Orleans. The studio promises new characters, locations, weapons and equipment, as well as an unspecified new threat that is constantly on your heels.

Chapter 2: Retribution, unlike the name suggests, is a standalone game and not an expansion. Similar to the original, it's about collecting loot, crafting items, and making important decisions that affect the story.

The Gaming showcase presented a trailer with the first views of gameplay. Chapter 2: Retribution will be released in late 2022 for the Quest and Rift platforms.

NFL Pro Era

In March, studio StatusPRO announced a partnership with the NFL. The goal is to release an official football game for virtual reality every year.

A first trailer of the game was shown at the Gaming Showcase. The quarterback simulator is coming for Meta Quest 2 and Playstation VR.

Among US VR

The VR version of the indie hit was announced in late 2021. Now there is a trailer with first game scenes to see.

Among Us VR will be released at the end of 2022 for Quest and PC VR as well as Playstation VR 2, as soon as the VR headset goes on sale.

Red Matter 2

The original set graphical standards at Meta Quest 1, and judging from a first trailer, the second installment could raise the bar even higher for mobile VR. The Gaming Showcase announced the sequel.

The storyline follows on seamlessly from the first part and once again puts you in the role of Sasha Riss. You receive a distress call from a colleague and have to travel across the solar system to stop the mysterious red matter that threatens the universe.

We expect a Red Matter 2 bigger and more extensive than the original, taking us to completely new areas. For the first time, there will also be battles and flights via jetpack.

The game will be released this summer for Meta Quest 2.

Espire 2

The high-tech agent game from 2019 is also getting a sequel. The title is said to be "bigger and better" than the original and also features a standalone co-op campaign.

"Your mission is to prevent the launch of an untraceable supersonic missile, a real doomsday machine. You will go behind enemy lines with a series of high-tech devices and try to save the world a second time," writes studio Digital Lode.

Espire will be released in November 2022 for Meta Quest 2.

Moss 2

First released for Playstation VR, this title is coming soon to Meta Quest 2 in the summer of 2022.

A trailer shows what you can expect graphically from the mobile VR version.

RuinsMagus

The JRPG was announced earlier. At the Gaming Showcase there was only a new trailer to see.

"In Ruinsmagus, you enter the alleys of Grand Amnis, a city perched atop a vast maze of ruins long forgotten by the people above it. In search of valuable and powerful artifacts, you'll travel into the heart of the ruins and unravel the mysteries of a lost age," writes the studio responsible.

Players inside grow into a magus over the course of the game, mastering up to 14 unique spells. In addition, there are various shields and items.

RuinsMagus is coming soon for Quest 2 and PC VR with an unannounced release date.

Cities VR

There is not much news to report from Cities VR either. The VR adaptation of the well-known city-building simulator will be released, as usual, on April 28 for Meta Quest 2. A new trailer gives further insights into the mechanics of the VR game.

Resident Evil 4 VR: The Mercenaries

Resident Evil 4 was well received by VR fans, so Meta announced last year that the Mercenaries mode known from the original would be added as DLC.

In the VR version, there is also the option of competing against other players on leaderboards or taking on 20 special challenges. Those who master them can unlock special game modes.

Beat Saber: Electronic Mixtape

A new music pack announced for Beat Saber gathers tracks from a wide variety of electronic artists. Announced songs include classics like Sandstorm, The Rockafeller Skank, and Freestyler, but the release date is unknown.

The full track list:

  • Witchcraft by Pendulum
  • Icarus by Madeon
  • Ghosts 'n' Stuff (feat. Rob Swire) by Deadmau5
  • Alone by Marshmello
  • Stay the Night (feat. Hayley Williams) by Zedd

Bonelab

Bonelab is the next big game from Stress Level Zero, the studio behind the VR classic Boneworks.

After narrowly escaping your own execution, you explore an eerie underground laboratory. Inside the facility, you'll encounter training modules that transport you to other dimensions. The more of these challenges you complete, the more you learn about this strange place and your role.

Bonelab takes place in the same universe as Boneworks and uses a special physics engine for realistic interactions and body immersion. The game also supports mods, allowing the fan community to create their own content and import it into the game.

Bonelab is coming later this year for Meta Quest 2 and PC VR.

Ghostbusters VR

Meta saved the biggest announcement for last: an official Ghostbusters game in development specifically for Meta Quest 2.

Your task is to build your own Ghostbusters headquarters in San Francisco. The trailer includes action from the first-person perspective. With a proton pack strapped on and a ghost-seeking P.K.E. meter in hand, you'll personally go on a ghost hunt.

The goal is to track down otherworldly creatures, catch them with the proton beam, and capture them. As part of the new story, you'll solve a "deep mystery" in the Ghostbusters universe. The optional co-op mode for up to four players could provide social fun.
