Apple's Vision Pro gets AI features and a new iPhone app

Apple just rolled out visionOS 2.4, bringing AI capabilities to its Mixed Reality headset for the first time. The free update packs several AI tools along with new ways to experience spatial content.
The new AI features, which Apple calls "Apple Intelligence," include writing assistants that can help rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across Mail, Notes, and third-party apps. Users can also play around with "Image Playground" to create custom images based on themes, costumes, and locations. There's even a feature called "Genmojis" that lets you generate personalized emojis just by describing what you want.
The AI capabilities extend to photos too — you can now search through your image library using natural language, and the system can automatically create flashback movies based on simple descriptions. Apple emphasizes that none of these AI features share user data with the company or third parties. For now, these features are only available to users who have their device language and Siri set to US English.
Spatial Gallery, new Vision Pro app for iPhones & guest mode
The update also introduces "Spatial Gallery," a new app showcasing Apple-curated spatial photos, videos, and panoramas. The content spans art, culture, entertainment, lifestyle, nature, sports, and travel. At launch, you'll find content from big names like Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche, plus behind-the-scenes looks at Apple shows like Severance.
With iOS 18.4, iPhone users get a dedicated Vision Pro app. Once you've updated your iPhone and linked it to the same Apple account as your Vision Pro, the app automatically appears. It helps users discover new spatial experiences, bookmark apps and games for later download, and quickly access Vision Pro information.
The guest mode has gotten some upgrades too. Users can now launch it when an iPhone or iPad is nearby, choose specific apps for guests to access, and mirror their iPhone view through AirPlay.
Apple's also expanding its immersive video lineup. Coming up are "VIP: Yankee Stadium" dropping April 4, and "Bono: Stories of Surrender" arriving May 30.
