Got two Meta Quests? Try this fun local multiplayer MR game

Does It Stack? is a challenging mixed reality game with a rare feature: local multiplayer.

I like mixed reality titles with simple game mechanics that are easy to learn but hard to master. Does It Stack? is definitely one of them.

Your task is to stack a series of pre-defined everyday objects to a certain height. If you succeed, you advance to the next level. But there is a catch: objects of the same color must not touch each other. If you don't follow this rule, the objects will bounce off each other and fly across the room.

Each level also offers two additional challenges of increasing difficulty: for example, the stack must end with a specific object. Or you have to build an even taller tower.

Surprisingly challenging

Does it Stack? is more than just a physical dexterity game, as I was surprised to discover when I tried it. It is also a puzzle game that requires spatial and logical thinking. Which objects have to be placed in which order and in which position to reach a certain height or goal is not a trivial matter. And even if you know all this, success also depends on a steady hand, patience, and a sense of balance and gravity of the objects.

The game is also one of the few mixed reality titles to support local multiplayer. This means you can play Does It Stack? locally with two players if you have a friend with a Quest headset or two headsets in the same household. Alternatively, there is classic multiplayer for the game's VR mode. For competitive players, the game offers online leaderboards.

Some rough edges

I also noticed a few flaws while playing the game. For example, I was annoyed by the cumbersome menus and the fact that I had to leave a level to adjust the height of the table in MR mode. I also found the effect when objects of the same color touch to be a bit too much. Does It Stack? offers a simple but ingenious experience that shines in mixed reality and local multiplayer, but could use some polishing in terms of user experience.

The game has 60 levels, each with three challenges, for a total of 180 tasks. There is also a Daily Challenge, where all players receive the same tasks and objects, and a Sandbox mode, where you can stack unlockable objects and experiment with various tools such as the glue gun.

Does It Stack? can be purchased in the Horizon Store for Quest 3, 3s and 2. The price is $15.
