AWE EU 2024 is coming to Vienna: What to expect at the XR conference
AWE EU 2024 will take place in Vienna in October. We provide a first overview of the most exciting topics and speakers of the XR conference.
Augmented World Expo (AWE), Europe's leading conference and exhibition for augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality, has announced the program for AWE EU 2024 in Vienna. The event will take place on October 29 and 30 at the Austria Center Vienna and will bring together experts, companies, developers, and investors from all over the world.
Over the two days, more than 125 presentations are expected from industry leaders including Meta, Siemens, Audi, ESA, P&G, Niantic, the World Economic Forum, Volvo, Boeing, KLM and Novo Nordisk. Highlights include:
- Martin Rademacher from AUDI AG will discuss challenges and solutions for implementing mixed reality in automotive manufacturing.
- Gersa Tome and Bastian Fibi from the Austrian Institute of Technology will show how XR can be used to visualize GreenTech solutions.
- Ben Widdowson from Siemens will discuss the role of XR technologies in the product development and manufacturing of the future.
- Kit Gilbert from Niantic will present the latest developments in spatial computing and the possibilities of XR experiences.
Other contributions will come from Neha Singh (Obsess), Johan Cruse (Volvo Trucks), Lionel Ferra (ESA) and Andy Fidel (Spatial Networks). AWE EU 2024 will conclude with the Auggie Awards ceremony, recognizing the winners of the Best in Show and Start-Up to Watch categories.

AWE celebrates its 15th anniversary
AWE's main event in the US celebrated its 15th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the event focused on the history of XR. A special XR History Museum showcased more than 80 AR and VR devices from the past five decades.
In addition, the first 101 members were inducted into the newly created AWE XR Hall of Fame, including industry giants such as John Carmack, Palmer Luckey, and Tim Sweeney.
This year's Auggie Awards, AWE's annual XR awards ceremony, honored the most innovative companies, developers and creators in 19 categories. Winning projects included Meta Quest 3 for Best Head-Worn Device, Pfizer's AI and AR-powered Manufacturing AR Co-Pilot solution for Best AI Application, and Cisco's Webex Hologram for Best Collaboration Tool.
