Ice hockey in Virtual Reality: NHL Sense Arena launches on Meta Quest 3
NHL Sense Arena brings the hockey experience to Meta Quest, including all official licensed 32 teams, jerseys, and arenas.
NHL Sense Arena is now available in the Meta Quest Store for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro, bringing officially licensed NHL hockey to virtual reality. The VR game was previously available on Meta's early access platform App Lab.
Originally designed as a training app, NHL Sense Arena now includes all 32 NHL teams as well as officially licensed jerseys, locker rooms, arenas and more. You can guide your favorite team through an entire NHL season.
Your skills will be put to the test in over 100 scenarios that can occur in a real NHL game. There are also targeted training exercises, and you can even put on your goalie gloves to test your reflexes in the net.
The basic version of NHL Sense Arena costs a one-time fee of $29.99 in the Horizon Store. There is also a subscription service for $30 per month that gives you access to the "Official VR Training Tool of USA Hockey".
This includes more than 100 training sessions from the main game, as well as training plans and videos from real coaches and professionals. New content is added monthly.
Professional leagues invest in VR
Other major sports leagues are also experimenting with VR experiences for their fans. The NFL has released the most successful VR sports game to date in partnership with developer studio StatusPRO. NFL Pro Era 1 and 2 have racked up more than one million players across all platforms. According to the developers, NFL Pro Era is one of the top ten best-selling titles for Meta Quest.
The English Premier League also recently partnered with a VR studio. Together with Rezzil, a VR football game will be developed. It will allow fans to step into the boots of their favorite players on a virtual pitch and recreate iconic goals and moments from a VR perspective.
