New music pack brings legendary rock songs to Beat Saber

Smells Like Teen Spirit, Born to be Wild and Eye of the Tiger. The new paid DLC brings these and other rock hits to Beat Saber.

Just before Christmas, Beat Games is giving the fan community the "Rock Mixtape", the first DLC of its kind, which collects songs from different rock bands.

Below you can find the full track list, which consists of eight rock songs.

  • Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
  • Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
  • KISS - I Was Made For Lovin' You
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
  • The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
  • Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
  • Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
  • Foo Fighters - The Pretender

The longest Beat Saber song of all time

As usual, the DLC includes a new environment with hand-animated elements. For example, in "Seven Nation Army" fans will notice different lighting effects and color schemes inspired by the iconic music video.

"Eye of the Tiger" was designed as an obstacle level in the style of the free song FitBeat to reflect the song's importance in pop culture. And "Free Bird" is a marathon: at nearly nine minutes, it's the longest song ever released for Beat Saber, with a record-breaking 3,000+ notes.

Beat Saber: Only on Meta Quest in the Future?

The Rock Mixtape is the 17th paid DLC and one of several focused on rock music. For fans of the music genre, there are song packs from Green Day and Linkin Park, among others. For a complete list of free and paid DLCs, check out Wikipedia.

The song pack is available now in the Meta Quest and Rift Store, on Steam and in the Playstation Store and costs about 10 Euros.

Beat Saber is considered the most successful game in virtual reality and is expected to have generated more revenue in 2021 than the next five largest VR apps combined.

Although Beat Saber is available for Playstation VR, the VR game has not yet been announced for Playstation VR 2. Is Meta, which acquired the Czech company three years ago, going for platform exclusivity in the future? We should know by the launch of the VR system at the end of February.
