Xreal has unveiled the Xreal One and One Pro. The new AR glasses offer a number of improvements over their predecessors. The centrepiece is the company's own X1 chip.

The display on previous Xreal models, such as the Xreal Air 2, always followed your gaze. For fixed displays and 3-DoF tracking, the optional Xreal Beam accessory was required. This should now be a thing of the past.

Don't miss out: in the MIXED Advent Calendar, you can win VR games or VR accessories every day.

Native 3-DoF tracking and wider field of view

With the X1 chip, native 3-DoF tracking should be possible with any connected device, including smartphones, laptops, handhelds or game consoles. Xreal Beam is no longer required. The chip is also said to achieve extremely low latencies of just 3 milliseconds.

According to Xreal, the visuals have also been improved. The Xreal One uses two Sony OLED microdisplays, each with a resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels. The field of view has been increased to 50 degrees. On the Xreal Air 2 it was 46 degrees.

The refresh rate is 120 Hz and the perceived brightness is 600 nits. Both glasses have four buttons which you can use to adjust the brightness, access the on-screen menu or use the dimming function to adjust the degree of transparency of the glasses.

The Xreal One and One Pro support different display modes such as Air Casting, Body Anchor and Smooth Follow and are designed to provide a spatial screen experience of 147 inches (3.73 m). In ultra-wide mode, a curved virtual screen is said to reach up to 310 inches (approx. 8 m).

These are the advantages of the Pro version

The 84 gram Pro version of the Xreal One offers an even wider field of view of 57 degrees with a 40 percent smaller form factor and is said to achieve a higher perceived brightness of 700 nits.

In order to reach the largest possible target group, Xreal offers the One Pro with two different IPD ranges (interpupillary distance) — 57 to 66 mm and 66 to 75 mm.

Xreal Eye for photo and video capture

The new AR glasses are also designed to deliver on the audio front. Xreal uses specially designed acoustic components tuned by Bose engineers. A new stereo microphone layout enables spatial audio effects and, when used with Xreal Eye, stereo recording.
