CONTEXT

A futuristic VR platform for which the time was not yet ripe

Launched in 2017 for PC VR headsets, Wave has over the years created a collection of stunning VR experiences known as Waves, featuring well-known artists such as Imogen Heap, Glitch Mob, Lindsey Stirling and Galantis.

In 2020, amidst the pandemic and hype around virtual concerts, the startup received a $30 million investment and opened up to 2D formats. 2021 saw the end of VR support, and Wave was removed from the Steam and Rift stores.

Meanwhile, the studio has been working on virtual productions with The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Calvin Harris.
