Walkabout Mini Golf's Mars Gardens DLC lets you putt on the Red Planet
The new Mars Gardens DLC for Walkabout Mini Golf VR transports you to a futuristic bio-dome on Mars for an out-of-this-world mini-golf adventure.
Developer studio Mighty Coconut has released a new expansion for the popular VR mini-golf game Walkabout Mini Golf. The Mars Gardens DLC is now available for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2, SteamVR, and Pico headsets, priced at €3.99. A version for the iOS app Walkabout Mini Golf: Pocket Edition is set to follow.
The new course transports you to a futuristic bio-dome on Mars, housing a colony. Across 18 holes, playable in both an easy and a challenging mode, you must putt your way through gently curving lines and craters. Mighty Coconut promises a unique atmosphere that captures the challenges of life on the red planet.
Additional features of the Mars Gardens DLC include:
- A themed scavenger hunt where you can unlock a special commemorative putter.
- New Mars-themed avatars to unlock.
- A drivable rover and interactive elements such as robotic arms and holograms.
- The ability to restart courses directly without returning to the main menu.
The Mars Gardens course is also slated to arrive for the iOS version, Walkabout Mini Golf: Pocket Edition, later this fall. A specific release date has not been announced yet.
Walkabout Mini Golf Continues to Grow
Since its initial release in fall 2020, Walkabout Mini Golf VR has become one of the most popular games on Meta Quest. Over 11,000 user reviews have given it a near-perfect five-star rating.
Mighty Coconut regularly expands the game with new content and DLC courses, often in collaboration with well-known artists and animation studios. Some examples include:
- The Wallace and Gromit DLC, which introduced the British cult duo to Walkabout Mini Golf.
- A course that pays tribute to the classic adventure game Myst.
- The “Evil Lairs” series, which takes you to the headquarters of villains, most recently the Ice Lair.
Walkabout Mini Golf VR supports Meta Quest, PlayStation VR 2, Pico 4, and PC VR. Thanks to cross-play, the game is perfect for relaxed multiplayer rounds with friends.
