Vuzix introduces new AR platforms and ultra-thin waveguide technology
AR specialist Vuzix presented two new platforms and an innovative waveguide technology with a thickness of just one millimeter at CES 2025.
Vuzix presented several new developments in the AR sector at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. As the company announced, the innovations include two platforms: the Ultralite Pro OEM Platform and the Ultralite Audio OEM Platform. Both systems are designed to significantly improve the user experience in consumer technology by integrating advanced AI.
Another innovation is an ultra-thin full-color waveguide with a thickness of just 1.0 millimeter. This uses the company's proprietary Incognito technology to optimize AR display performance. Vuzix also presented new display technologies. These included MicroLEDs and ultra-compact full-color LCoS projectors designed for use in next-generation AI-powered devices.
About a year ago, the company also launched the developer edition of its Z100 smart glasses. Weighing just 36 grams, they are among the lightest smart glasses with a display. Designed for industrial environments, the headset has a monocular display with a 30-degree field of view and a battery life of up to two days.
Vuzix positions itself in competition with tech giants
While companies like Google and Meta may one day vie for leadership in the consumer AR market, Vuzix is establishing itself as a major technology provider in the background. The company specializes in corporate customers in particular and develops smart glasses that are optimized for specific tasks.
The new developments from Vuzix could have a significant impact on the further development of AR and AI technologies. With the combination of lightweight, practical designs and advanced technology, the company is trying to bridge the gap between industrial requirements and consumer technology.
