Lovesick is a surreal VR adventure that takes you inside the psyche of a dysfunctional 90s rock band
In Lovesick, you take on the role of bassist Sam and experience firsthand how a 90s rock band breaks up from within. A surreal VR adventure for Meta Quest and PC-VR awaits you.
In "Lovesick" from Rose City Games and Lyrical Media, you take on the role of bassist Sam. Your mission is to free your band members, who are imprisoned by supernatural "Feedback," from their surreal, distorted minds.
The VR game lets you experience the highs and lows of a 90s rock band. While your bandmates are trapped in bizarre dream worlds that reflect their fears, ambitions, and memories, you must solve tricky puzzles to save them.
Along the way, you acquire mysterious psychic abilities. Each puzzle you solve brings you closer to understanding the "Feedback" and saving your bandmates. At the same time, you learn more about the conflicts that threaten to tear your former friendship apart.
Lovesick features surreal psycho worlds, an eerie atmosphere, and an authentic 90s punk soundtrack. It is scheduled for release in 2025 for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, and Quest Pro as well as PC VR via SteamVR.
A VR game full of insider experiences
The developers at Rose City Games drew on their own experiences in the music industry to create Lovesick. According to game director Corey Warning, most of the team members have spent years touring with bands and working in the record label business, and they want to capture those experiences authentically.
"We’re uniquely set up to tell this story. It was inspired by the existential nowhere that comes from being on the road constantly and finding and sharing your voice. The egos, the pressure, the camaraderie — it’s all here," says Warning.
With Lovesick, the team at Rose City Games is breaking new ground with its first VR game after indie games like The World Next Door, Floppy Knights and Garden Story. An atmospheric soundtrack from Graham Nesbitt's '90s punk rock scene and a strong story experience take center stage.
