Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses get three new AI features
Meta is upgrading Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses with new features, but only in the USA and Canada.
Meta announces three new features for Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which are starting to roll out today with the v11 update:
- Live AI: Meta AI can now access the live video feed and see everything you see during a live AI session, converse with you naturally, and assist you with everyday activities like preparing meals, gardening, or exploring a new neighborhood. You can refer back to things you discussed earlier in the session, ask follow-up questions, or change the subject.
- Live translation: The smart Glasses can now translate spoken language between English and Spanish, French, or Italian. When you talk to someone who speaks one of these languages, you hear what they say in English through the glasses' speakers. Alternatively, you can view a transcript on your smartphone.
- Shazam integration: If you say, "Hey Meta, Shazam this song," the glasses will identify the song for you.
All three features are available only to users in the United States and Canada. Live AI and live translation are only available through an early access program, while the Shazam integration is rolling out to all users in North America.
Delayed AI feature rollout in the EU
In the EU, the AI features of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses have been delayed or not introduced at all due to stricter AI and data protection regulations.
The first AI features rolled out in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain in November. Since then, users have been able to communicate with Meta AI via voice commands to get answers to common questions. The visual AI analysis remained reserved for the US, Australia and Canada.
