Horror games dominate the PSVR 2 download charts of October
Sony has revealed the top downloads for last month. Which PSVR 2 games were the most popular in October 2023?
Not surprisingly, horror and mystery games dominated the Halloween month.
The spooky rollercoaster shooter Switchback VR has taken the number two spot in North America and the number one spot in Europe. The exclusive title launched in March to disappointing reviews, but Supermassive Games took the criticism to heart and delivered a series of updates that improved the graphics and gameplay, and added a horde mode. The effort seems to have paid off, as Switchback VR has regained the favor of PSVR 2 gamers.
In third place in both regions is the horror game Propagation: Paradise Hotel, which received good reviews. MIXED editor Alan also liked the game a lot.
Other genre titles in the top ten include the Ghostbusters: Rise of The Ghost Lord, which had a mixed reception, my personal Halloween favorite The 7th Guest, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners 2.
A good month for Playstation VR 2
The tactical shooter Pavlov made it to 4th place in both regions, while last month's biggest hit, the co-op shooter Crossfire: Sierra Squad, still managed to secure 7th place (also in both regions).
Other top downloads include the sci-fi game Hubris, the enhanced Red Matter, and the VR version of the smartphone classic Angry Birds. And then there is Beat Saber, which is traditionally expected to be at the top spots of the list.
October was a relatively strong month for Playstation VR 2, even if some titles fell short of expectations (Ghostbusters VR, The Foglands) and some promising VR games (Vertigo 2, Phasmophobia) were delayed. In November, the list of new releases is much smaller.
