Big VR games battle it out in last month's PSVR 2 top downloads
Sony has published the top downloads for January 2025. Which VR games were particularly popular at the beginning of the year?
The Playstation Store top downloads are released once a month and give an idea of the sales success of the listed VR games compared to others, as most PSVR 2 titles are only available as digital downloads.
Below are the top downloads for January 2025, broken down by North America and EU regions:
Looking at the list, we can see that it includes all the major new VR releases of the last three months:
- Arken Age (January)
- Alien: Rogue Incursion (December)
- Skydance's Behemoth (December)
- Metro: Awakening (November)
Considering that Arken Age debuted in January, was critically acclaimed, and is probably better than the much bigger and more expensive productions, I'm surprised that the VR game didn't rank higher.
As is often the case, Beat Saber, the top-downloaded PSVR 2 game of 2024, dominates the top spot. Chart regulars Pavlov, Among Us VR, and Creed: Rise to Glory are also back, as well as Swordsman VR. The game sold better on PSVR 2 than on the Quest platform in December, the studio said in January. The visually stunning solo project Subside is also back on the charts. Hopefully, this guarantees more content down the road.
