Steam now lists the PC app for Playstation VR 2
Steam now lists the PC app you need to run Playstation VR 2 on your PC.
The PC adapter for Playstation VR 2 will be released on August 7th and will cost $60.
On August 6, you will be to download the PC app that turns Playstation VR 2 into a SteamVR compatible PC VR headset.
The Steam listing contains screenshots showing the interface of the PC app. They are reminiscent of the PS5 setup of the Playstation VR 2.
It will also be possible to update the firmware of the headset and controller via the PC app. Settings (play area, screen brightness) are made through the SteamVR dashboard. Once set up, you will need to keep the app installed to use Playstation VR 2 on your PC.
What you need for Playstation VR 2 on PC
For PC operation, you need a PC that meets the minimum requirements. For good performance, Sony recommends at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT with DisplayPort connection (the DisplayPort cable must be purchased separately).
Bluetooth 4.1. or higher is also required to connect the Sense controllers. The adapter will also require a USB-A port on the PC side.
Sony points out that some of the best features of PSVR 2 will not be available on PC:
- HDR
- Haptic sense feedback from the controllers (only the standard rumble vibration works)
- haptic sense feedback of the VR headset
- eye-tracking
- 3D audio
