Resident Evil 4 VR mode coming to PSVR 2 next week with free demo
Resident Evil 4's VR mode will be released as free DLC next week. If you don't own the main game, you can try out a demo.
The remake of the classic horror game was released earlier this year and has become one of the most acclaimed games of the year, selling over 5 million copies.
The VR mode allows you to experience the main story from start to finish through the eyes of Leon S. Kennedy, putting you right in the middle of the action. You hold, shoot and load the many weapons with your own hands, and the haptics of the Sense controllers make them feel particularly realistic. A new trailer (see below) gets you in the mood for the horror experience.
The VR mode will be released as free DLC for the PS5 version of the game on December 8. At the same time, a free demo of the VR mode will come out for those who do not own the main game. In the demo, you can try out the first part of the village and the shooting range.
Experience Resident Evil 4 in a new way
The VR mode was developed by the same team that created the VR modes for Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. The ports were some of the best and most impressive gaming experiences for the original Playstation VR and Playstation VR 2, and Resident Evil 4 VR should be no exception.
"Whether it’s your first time or you’ve already played or completed the game before, I think this new way to play will be totally fresh – I’m actually jealous of anyone who gets to experience the game this way for the first time! It’s not long now until the heart-pounding terror and excitement will be available," says producer Masato Kumazawa.
If you don't have a Playstation VR 2, but a Quest 2 or Quest 3, there's a very good VR port of the original from 2005 for you.
