FACTS

Phasmophobia was originally scheduled for a console release in August 2023. After a studio fire and unexpected challenges in porting the title, the console version was postponed indefinitely a year ago. Now, studio Kinetic Games has announced the release date.

Phasmopobia will launch in Early Access on PS5, Playstation VR 2, and Xbox with cross-play support on October 29, 2024.

The console version of the game will match the PC version and will receive future updates at the same time, writes Kinetic Games. At the start of Early Access, console and PC players will be able to play together in the so-called Halloween event "Crimson Eye", which begins on October 28.

CONTEXT

What is Phasmophobia?

Released on Steam in 2020 with optional VR support, Phasmophobia is a horror game in which up to four players play as paranormal investigators trying to identify ghosts in haunted locations.

Using tools like EMF readers and cameras, they gather evidence to determine the type of ghost from a list of over 20 different options.

Each investigation is randomized, so the game can be replayed in different locations such as homes, schools, and mental institutions. The goal is to survive, correctly identify the ghost, and earn money to buy better equipment for future investigations.
