Pico 4 Ultra launches in China, revealing new details about the upcoming Quest 3 rival

Pico 4 Ultra officially launched in China today with new information and images of the mixed reality headset.

There have been plenty of leaks about the upcoming headset in recent months.

Since last week we know from official sources that the device will be called Pico 4 Ultra and will be launched in China on August 20th.

To coincide with its launch in China, Pico has released a series of new images and information about the Pico 4 Ultra on X. The device is being marketed as a full-featured mixed reality headset with color passthrough, ringless controllers and spatial video support.

Pico also teased Pico Motion Trackers for full-body tracking.

There is an enterprise version of the Pico 4 Ultra

More information is circulating on X, taken from the Chinese press conference and official promotional materials.

A promotional trailer shows different use cases: Productivity, immersive in-flight media consumption, spatial video capture directly with the headset, and mixed reality gaming (Angry Birds, Demeo).

The Pico Motion Trackers are also shown in action in a Beat Saber clone, a dance game and a soccer game. No word on whether these titles are in development or just for show.

The video also confirms that the Snapdragon XR2 Gen is being used, which is the same chipset as in Quest 3.

An image of a B2B version of the headset, which has a white front instead of black (aside from the new mixed reality sensor array), has also appeared on X.

It is not known if and when the device will be released outside of China and how much it will cost. We will update this article if we find out more.
