One of the best PSVR 2 games gets even better: CyubeVR receives huge update
The extensive update 58 for CyubeVR is now live, bringing a lot of new content and improvements to the game. Here's what you can expect.
Stonebrick Studios has released the big update 58 for the VR sandbox game CyubeVR. It adds many new things to craft and build, including a functional wall shelf, new chairs, seating options, and statues. There's also a fancy water block and a handy feature for quickly teleporting home.
The update also brings native support for bHaptics hardware, entirely new music for the Shimmerstone Caves with realistic reverb, a new dynamic 3D display for crafting recipes with a revamped user interface, and a Polish localization. Additionally, you can now place mesh objects on top of each other, earn three new trophies, and enjoy many other improvements and bug fixes.
New crafting and building options
The highlights include new furniture to craft and build. You can now make a simple and a fancy seating option, a stone pedestal, an antique stone statue, and a stone guardian statue. Furthermore, new is a functional shelf that works like a chest on the wall, as well as two fancy chairs in a dark and a light version. With the new “Teleport to Respawn Torch” feature, you can quickly teleport home. There's also a very fancy water block.
Improved atmosphere and user interface
The update also improves the atmosphere in the Shimmerstone Caves. You can expect wholly new ambient music and realistic reverberation on all sounds. You can even hear your own echo when you say something in the caves. The “Crafting Recipes” user interface in the suitcase has also been revamped. The rotating recipe preview is now rendered as a real-time 3D preview instead of a video, and there are new texts for “Description” and “Yield”.
With the update, you can now place mesh objects on top of each other as long as there is a sufficiently flat surface. Block items briefly float in the air when you drop them from your hand without moving your hand. A useful feature for re-placing mesh objects has also been added. The picture frames have received 20 new default images, and the community screenshot gallery in the main menu has been expanded with 52 screenshots. There are also three new trophies and new “Expert Settings” with the option to disable hint texts.
The extensive update also brings optimizations. The recipe recognition for rotated or mirrored structures has been improved, the loading time of large complex chunks has been reduced, and the VRAM consumption of the picture frame images has been optimized.
Modders also benefit: they no longer have to create their own preview image for their custom blocks, which accelerates the process and reduces the VRAM consumption per block.
CyubeVR: Long development history and successful PSVR 2 port
We have already taken an in-depth look at CyubeVR. In our preview of the PSVR 2 version, we attested to the game's great future potential, even though it's far from being fully developed. The port is very successful: CyubeVR looks fantastic and is one of the most beautiful games for Sony's VR headset.
In an interview, developer Corvin Engelken revealed that a multiplayer mode with crossplay between PC and PSVR 2 is planned, among other things. With update 58, Stonebrick Studios once again shows that it is using the Early Access phase on PC and the release for PSVR 2 intensively for the further development of the game.
